David Marsten from L.A. May 2022

1 dags kursus 9. Maj 2022

Workshoppen sker i samarbejde med John Gurnæs, Multiversitet

David Marsten

Denne workshop er flyttet frem til 2022 – Vi glæder os så meget til genbesøg.E n af forfatterne til  til Narrative Thearpy in Wonderland.

‘In this workshop we will look at what makes an otherwise ordinary story irresistible. We will start with the main character — the person who is called to the center of events. Every story needs a formidable protagonist — someone who can be counted on to give a plot drive and propel the story forward. And what is a protagonist without an obstacle to overcome? It is only when something has gone terribly wrong that the person affected has the opportunity to make their reputation and become a memorable figure. These and other elements of narrative will be relied upon with the aim of developing a winning counter-story.

Through lecture, video of direct practice, exercise and discussion, workshop participants will be able to:

  • (1)  Get to know people according to their virtues
  • (2)  Listen with an ear tuned to novelty in an effort to imbue life with vibrancy
  • (3)  Critique dominant narratives that would limit our imaginations as practitioners
  • (4)  Look at people’s lives from a cinematic rather than psychological perspective
  • (5)  Rely on narrative elements (rich characterization, obstacle/antagonist, temporality, suspense, story genre, the imaginary) to build a counter-story
